At the end of the day, don’t we all just want to feel safe, comfortable, and stable?
Nonprofits do a lot of work to make the under-served feel safe, comfortable, and stable, but they often forget their staff in the process.
What are you saying about your team when you:
- Don’t offer a 403(b) and/or don’t contribute to it
- Don’t allow for plenty of sick days and time off
- Are rigid when creating schedules
- Pay the minimum salaries possible
- Frown upon staff that show up and leave on time, instead of regularly putting in long hours
- Don’t have retreats
Your mission is important. Your constituents are important. But so are your staff. Treat them like it.
Right, fair is fair. I hate shity leadership.
